About Us

Biosack was started by Louise Howsam, a mother of two very energetic children and a full time recycler. Louise started Biosack after experiencing at first hand the problems of keeping wheelie bins and food waste bins clean. With two young children and several pets it was an ongoing battle to keep the smells under control and everything as hygienic as possible. The local council were sympathetic but not very helpful and no one had really come up with an answer other than regular washing of the bins. That was proving expensive and time consuming.

Louise says “I was having an awful time trying to be a good recycler and coping with the smell and mess. I was really starting to wonder if it was all worth it and then I found a manufacturer of very tough and biodegradable paper whilst looking for help on the internet. They were able to manufacture 100% guaranteed biodegradable paper sacks to fit our wheelybins and that really changed everything. I have not had a moment to myself since then but I have not had a smelly old wheelie bin either”.

The story behind the decision to specifically use a paper sack is a little more involved but it focuses on the fact that we are all familiar with paper and know instinctively that it is a natural material. Paper is a part of nature and when manufactured responsibly can help nature. Paper has some interesting qualities and it can be manufactured to be waterproof and tough and biodegradable at the same time. That combination of qualities make paper the natural choice.
